The Florida Prize in Contemporary Art presented by VyStar Credit Union and organized by the Orlando Museum of Art is a snapshot of the most compelling work by ten contemporary living artists in the State each with distinguished records of exhibitions and awards at national and international levels. The exhibition encompasses poignant and impactful narratives in a plethora of mediums of textile, painting, immersive virtual projections, site-specific installations, ceramics, and drawing.
This year’s artists address pertinent and timely topics of connections with ancestry, personal and collective memory, and the ties that bind us together. They will also explore our fusional relationship with the urban environment, decay, gentrification, place-making, and belonging, as well as the virtual realm.
The 2025 selected artists are Nathalie Alfonso, Eddie Arroyo, Leo Castañeda, Kelly Joy Ladd, Amanda Linares, Kandy G. Lopez, Jiha Moon, Troy Simmons, Cornelius Tulloch, and Lisu Vega.
Please join us for the Florida Prize in Contemporary Art Opening Preview Party on Friday, May 30, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Orlando Museum of Art. While one artist will be awarded the $20,000 Florida Prize, attendees will cast their vote throughout the exhibition for the People's Choice Award to be announced August 21st. Proceeds from the opening support the exhibition.
